15 Months

I took AnnaBeth to her 15 month appointment last week and our little girl continues to grow, well, smaller. Or so it seems based on the charts. She's a wee 20 lbs which puts her in the 10th percentile (down from 15% at her 1 year appointment) and she's now 30 in (now at 30%-down from 40% at 1 year). She may be small but our petite little girl has a big brain! Given what she knows (I'll list them below), she's developmentally 18 months old. Yep, 3 months ahead, which means life will be a little more challenging because she knows what she wants but doesn't have the verbal skills to express it. That means we'll get a lot of her throwing herself on the floor in frustration (been happening for awhile) and meals will be challenging (duh, this isn't new) because she surely knows what she likes and doesn't like. Her doctor also told us to expect her to start jumping off things around 18 months (it typically starts happening around 2 years old). Anyway, here's what our girl knows!

Words (not all are pronounced well or even all that close to the real word but we still know what she's saying)

hi, bye bye, all done, Jacob, tickle, uh oh, what's this/that, I did it (usually just "did it"), again, Nana, Papa, Mama, Dada/Daddy, YaYa (for Laura), want some, bath, banana, up, down (sometimes uses "want" with it), off, two, Tigger, shoes, more, turtle, and stinky. Sometimes it sounds like she's saying dog and cat.

Animal noises (again, not perfect but we get the idea)

dog, sheep, cow, horse, bird, snake, bumble bee, car (ok, so not an animal but still a sound). Sometimes she attempts a cat sound and I think I heard her making an owl sound today.

Body parts

she knows where her: eyes, ears, hair, nose, mouth, feet/toes, legs, belly button, and hands are.

Tasks

she can wash her hair, brush her teeth, drink from a straw, drink from a cup without a lid (although sometimes gets a little too excited and spills it all over), and now holds crayons and attempts to color.

Objects

when looking at books, she almost always successfully points out: dog, cat, flower, cow, horse, sheep, mouse, butterfly, Curious George, shoes, baby, ball, bath, fish, snake, bird, monkey, car, duck, fire truck, giraffe, donkey, lion, tiger, teddy bear, and frog.
